My husband and I bought this 1998 firebird last year from a used car dealership. We knew it was a salvage title and that we would probably have to put some work into it, but we have hit financial difficulites and we really can't afford to work on this car. When we first bought the car we had to replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires. Just recently it has started sputtering at low speeds and the check engine light has come on, which may be spark plugs again or something with the fuel injection system. When you start the car it sounds like the starter has a little trouble but it turns over fine. Other than those two things, the car runs fine, it hasn't broken down on us. The left window won't roll down when you press the button, but the right window rolls down fine. There is a crack on the dash on the interior and the ash tray cover is broken, those are the two major interior flaws. The apolstry is in good condition. The paint job on the car is really good, it's shins up nice, no major flaws on the paint job or exterior. It has a really cool hood, and fairly new tires. This is a smoke free car, and we drive it around town to work and back, no long trips really. We purchased the vehicle in Tennessee when we were visiting my parents last year and we drove it here. It still needs to be registered in Texas as we just moved here about a month ago.
We love the looks of the car and were planning on fixing up the dashboard crack and ash tray and getting new speakers (the speakers don't work very well), but we just can't afford it now. If you want a nice car to work on as a project that is still driveable in the process, this might be for you!
